Could anything be better than eating fresh Florida stone crabs by the Florida Bay as the sun shines warmly on your shoulders and your kids happily dance to the steel drum band? It's not a dream – it's the Third Annual Stone Crab Festival in Key Largo , Jan. 28 and 29, 2012 and I can tell you first hand that it’s not to be missed. They’ll be fresh local seafood , live entertainment, cooking demos, rows of artists and crafters – and that’s just the adult fun. For kids, there will be face painting, a magic show, a little mermaid contest, fishing workshops and the “return” of Black Caesar and his crew (pirates are invading!). Be sure to stick around for the fireworks! They’re right over the bay and the reflection is beautiful. Food, Glorious Food You want fresh seafood? You got it! Get ready to taste a smorgasbord of flavors from the sea: delectable stone crab claws, homemade fish dip, conch fritters, chowders, tuna nachos – and that’s just a small sampling. The Weather Is Here Did you know that the average temperature in Key Largo in January is 75 degrees Fahrenheit? Yep. Bring your sunscreen and a hat! Got to love it. Where Is It?
