Destin Florida – Great Beaches – Lots of activity!

While the Destin Florida Area is often known for its larger than life resorts – a traveler can also select from a variety of private large houses, luxury condos and other direct Beach Front accommodations if you are searching for a luxury vacation away from the hustle of resort congestion. Even with an estimated four and a half million vacation travelers visiting the panhandle area, there are people who live year round in Destin through out the year, and according to a recent 2004 census, the number is reported to be just over twelve thousand people.

The Eastern Pass, also known as Destin Pass, is at the western tip of the peninsula (and is the only outlet of Choctawhatchee Bay) into the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The claim that has been made that the pass was most likely excavated by hand however it appears on the earliest maps of the French, Spanish and English settlers, so this is most likely a well heeled romantic folk tale. On the other end, the East Pass is dredged on a continuous basis to keep it navigable. The very first maps of the East Pass was created by Don Francisco Tapia when he was commissioned to survey of the coast of Florida and draw the map.

The resort beach community of Destin and its sister SanDestin have existed for well over 150 years and began as a mix of small and quaint coastal fishing villages. The actual City of Destin can trace it’s roots all the way back to the seventh century when it is claimed that several tribes of American Indians lived in the area. Destin proper is named for Captain Leonard Destin, who settled in Northwest Florida around eighteen forty five. The captain pulled up roots in the north and headed here from the Connecticut coastline and was an early adopter in the local fishing industry. One hundred sixty five years later Destin is touted as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” and claims the largest, best equipped fishing fleet in all of the Florida Gulf Coast. The primary location of fishing is Destin Harbor where you can see why the City is so proud of its heritage each day as the ships leave and return.

When traveling to the area, you can play a variety of golf courses, get your racquet for a match of tennis and of course do anything you can think of on the Gulf waters, including windsurfing and scuba diving. If fishing is your thing charter a variety of boats and do some outstanding fishing in the Gulf. You will appreciate the fact that the one hundred fathom curve is closer to Destin than any other spot in Florida, making it the fastest way to get out on deep waters of the Gulf.

No matter what your choice of activities in the Florida Panhandle when the day is done, a Luxury Destin Rental are the place for waving goodbye to the day. Whether you select a Luxury Condo or a more modest beach rental, bring the whole family and enjoy The Florida Gulf Coast in Destin!

Located at the entrance of the all-inclusive Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort and adjacent to the new state-of-the-art Sacred Heart Hospital, you’re only moments away from your destination.
That does this mean for locals and guests of Destin, Sandestin, Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, and Seaside? More Beach time of course! What about those rainy days? Spend the day at Grand Boulevard shopping in stores such as Tommy Bahama, Brooke’s Brothers, Coldwater Creek, Billabong, J. Jill and Victoria’s Secret.
Take the kids to Learning Express Toys and Kilwin’s Confectionary and Ice Cream Shoppe or mom to Fusion Spa Salon for a stress-relieving message or cleansing facial.Have you worked up an appetite? How about dining in one of Grand Boulevard’s premiere restaurants! Whether it’s biting into a savory steak at Fleming’s Prime Steak House and Wine Bar or feasting on fresh seafood at Mitchell’s Fish Market restaurant and bar, there’s sure to be something that awakens your taste buds. Oh, and don’t forget to stop by Cantina Laredo for one of their famous Margaritas… can you say Ole!

With all of this and the two luxury hotels on the Boulevard (Courtyard and Residence Inn by Marriott) you won’t want to leave. Shoppers’ Paradise on the Beach – Destin, Florida

Shoppers Paradise on the Beach

Not only can you find some of the world’s finest beaches and fishing in Destin, but you can also find some amazing post-holiday deals at the Silver Sands Factory Stores located directly across from the beach. With over 100 designer stores ranging from apparel to electronics and more, you’ll be sure to find just what you’re looking for without breaking the bank. I was able to find a brand new Coach handbag for my wife for under $100, regular price $250. Some of the other really hot stores include: BCBG,  Lacoste, Nike Factory Store (a must), Rockport, Swarovski, Tommy Hilfiger, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Silver Sands Outlet Mall

Silver Sands Outlet Mall - 10562 Emerald Coast Parkway, Destin, FL 32550

Dooney & Bourke as well as their sport collections (Duck, Patchwork, Stripe and Sailboat) are currently 50% off original outlet prices.

The prices in San Destin rival are what you might expect to pay online or at one of the world’s largest outlet malls like Sawgrass Mills in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Be sure to wear comfortable footwear and come prepared to do some walking. The outdoor mall is laid out in sections with about 10-20 stores on each block. Parking is usually readily available and spaces are large enough to accommodate large vehicles.

If you get hungry you can always stop at one of the restaurants and grab a bite to eat. For something fast, I would recommend Panera Bread for their soups and sandwiches served on fresh specialty bread, or if you prefer Italian, Carabba’s Italian Grill is a really good choice for franchise dining. For desert, San Gelato Cafe is well-known for serving fresh Italian ice cream made daily.

True to their motto, Silver Sands is the shoppers’ paradise.

For more information about stores and sales visit: Silver Sands Outlet

Cheers!
