The seventh annual Punta Gorda Wine and Jazz Festival is so popular that all the VIP tickets sold out in April of 2011. It’s so popular it was named a “Top 20 Festival” by the Southeast Tourism Society. It’s so popular that 27 world leaders from every corner of the globe will be attending. Well, I may have made that last one up, but the other two are true! The reason for its popularity is simple: It’s hard to top a three-day celebration of food, drink and entertainment in one of the most picturesque waterfront settings in all of southwest Florida –particularly when it features talent that includes the Rippingtons, Russ Freeman, Peter White and Mindi Abair. The festival dances into Laishley Park in Punta Gorda from 2- 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17 – 19, 2012 , and you should be there. Check out what your ticket price includes! Entertainment A welcome bag with wine/beer glasses and show directory A food passport to visit every food vendor once from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. All wine, beer, sodas and water If you’re a smart beach bunny, you’ll remember to bring a folding chair. You’re even allowed to bring an umbrella, provided you sit to the side of the audience and don’t block people behind you. There’s a very short list of what not to bring: Leave your dogs, cats, hamsters and snakes at home, since no pets are allowed. Ditto for coolers. Want to snag a deal ?
